Proudly standing for all Teaching-Focused Faculty, UNTF understands Labor Rights are intrinsically linked with LGBTQIA+ Rights. Seven Mattes, an Assistant Professor of Human-Animal Studies in the Center for Integrative Studies, has been thrilled to serve on the UNTF bargaining team and as co-treasurer this past year. Committed to celebrating the multitudes of queerness in our world, from supporting fellow LGBTQIA+ faculty and students to teaching through a queer ecological lens, Seven feels right at home as an active member of UNTF.

With members like ours, we always have a lot to be proud of. But this month we take extra time to appreciate the people in our community who embody all the colors of the rainbow. Our team, our unit, our university, and our community is a brighter, better place for having so many beautiful queer people in it.

Guns have no place in the classroom. We stand with March for Our Lives and are committed to making common sense gun control legislation a reality.

Our 2022-2026 contract has officially been ratified! We’re thrilled that our members are as excited as we are about the monumental wins in this contract. We can’t wait to see all our members can do in the next four years with more support behind them, and we look forward to good things to come.

We have reached a settlement with MSU that both our leadership team and our state federation, AFT Michigan, categorize as a historic win.
